How do traditional Indigenous narratives occupy an evolving future?

Starting with a vacant 180,000 sq. ft. building as a blank canvas, we join with the Mississippi Choctaw Tribe to imagine a community center that channels their cultural past and embodies their future aspirations.

A holistic spatial plan, designed with Michael Rotondi of RotoLab, maximizes the architecture and its surroundings by paying homage to the tribe’s traditions. This customized center provides a sustainable business model, incorporates future-facing technologies, and serves the whole Choctaw community of today and tomorrow.

Linking the past, present and future

We generate several tools for the Choctaw Tribe to explore their new center and the community itself. These include an interactive website, an architectural 3D modeling platform, and a number of paths through the gathering space that highlight its different uses.

The Choctaw Community Center links tradition to possible futures.
